"The highlight was not a single disc lost! Todd, Shawn, and I had to stop off at Laporte after 36 at BM to at least get a birdie or 2!"
Yeah it's a challenging course.
Question is did y'all like it?

It was a very fun day of disc golf. Overall I love the new course, but I think it still needs some work to really polish it up. Hole 3 for example. I just stared at it and wondered--where's the fairway? My favorite holes were 6 (tight fairway with a dogleg left and JAIL on all sides), 7 (just a chance to rip a huge downhill blast--Jmart parked it with his putter!) and 16 (I wouldn't mind having a little more of a fairway here). The variety of holes and shots was very cool.
My first round I was shooting poorly and didn't know the layout yet so I took a 71. But I recharged with a burger and a beer and shot a 60 second round. Definitely gave up some strokes towards the end but I was happy with that score. That's the way this course is though, you can easily shoot 2 rounds and be 10 strokes apart. The course really punishes bad shots, so bring your A game! Everyone is going to enjoy it next weekend, but I'd recommend going out and playing it once this week before the monthly if you can. Great course, great atmosphere, great people.

Pete, agree with you on 3, wonder has anyone done it in 3 yet? But 16, wouldn't change a thing, think it's just a classic. Unreal that JMart parked 17 with a putter. WOW. Like you said, the course sure can punish severely, think that's what makes it great.
How many people went? What was the best score?

yeah yeah i threw a putter far but DOWNHILL.i parked hole7 not 17. although now you've got me thinking...................... if my head gets anymore inflated about putters thats all that will end up in my bag there were in total over 20 something while we were there. at one point we had 2 groups totalling 10 people. i know bill m, todd, and some others came out earlier than we did. as far as best score i think it was a 59 ? with the rest of the field around 62-69 overall i am very impressed. i have rented cabins there before the course was there ( they use to have tone poles ) and have always loved the atmosphere and the service. of course a 2 week old course will need a little tlc and tweeking........ in my opinon ( blast of hot wind ) alot of tee's need work to get packed in and solidified and some selective pruning on hole's 2,5 ( although both rounds i was within 60 off the tee) and other fairways. hole three is as absurd as most of my jokes. once a lil "chaisaw massacre" happens it will be a great uphill dogleg. marvin parred it his first time playing EVER. i didnt see it but holy s^&t thats like getting a three on 16!!!!! ( kct shout out). i think this is a must play in colorado. maybe we can hold states at the 2 redfeather courses? congrats to all who have helped the club gain the recognition we so dearly needed to motivate others to install a gem like this jm

I like the chainsaw massacre reference, but if a newbie shot a par on 3.....Hmmm. Wonder how Evan would do on it. Think there's something to be said for a hole that instills dread and bewilderment. But maybe not that much dread and bewilderment.
Their attitude up there is great and they sure seem to want and listen to feedback. Can't wait to get back up there.

It was a very fun course and very challenging. I will say this is not a course for a casual player. You really need to have a lot of different shots in your game and good control. I used my putter more then I have on any other course and other disc that I rarely use.
There are a lot of blind shots were you simply have to let it fly and hope that you land safely. The tee boxes will get better over time when the dirt is compacted. I agree with Pete on a couple of holes it might be better if they opened the fairway a little bit (not too much). The holes are fun and really make you think but the play will be really slow for a large tournament. Over time some of these will get somewhat easier (more open) as the natural area gets packed down with people playing and paths being created etc.

Played on Sunday with the crew and had a great time...unfortunately was only able to play one round but shot a 58 with three fives and six birdies and was pretty happy with it. Felt that I was playing good enough to shoot 52-55 but got a 5 on 17 and missed two short putts towards the end of the round. I agree with everyone though that 3 needs to be heavily altered...cool idea, bad design. Tee pad is five feet from 2's basket and there is no fairway. Overall the course is very beautiful with some good signature holes that test all areas of your game. Really the only thing besides three's fairway would be to move some tee-pads that are within 30 feet of some baskets and echo what Doug said that over time the course will break in nicely. Great time though and can't wait to get back up there again

there were 3 58s sunday, pat, danB, and I, low 50s are definitely possible I feel after seeing the course a second time, I took a lost disc penalty on 14, one of the longest holes, and had to re-tee, took a 6, and I bogeyed the shortest hole on the course, 8. Still played solid overall minus those 2 holes, shave a few strokes here and there and you are under par 54 easy. I parked 17 with a putter, destroyer, right, that's a putter?

Marvin did have his first par, but it was not on #3. It may have been #8. Steve did manage a 3 on #3 with a miracle 3rd shot. Hit it from about 60+ft! I echo the sentiment of everyone on #3. Also on a couple of boxes getting moved a little. Kind of dangerous setup right now. Camping up there was great! Marvin and the crew were incredibly hospitable. Pancake, eggs and bacon breakfast really started the day right for us. I really look forward to spending more time up there, even if it is hours away from Boulder.....

That hole aint so hard

Is the Club Monthly still scheduled for Beaver Meadows this Sunday, the 6th? If so, what are the details and who's heading up?

All of the details are on the home page...I'm heading up but I'm not sure what to expect of the turnout since there are some other tournies as well as it being a holiday weekend

The last I heard the Monthly was going to happen at Beaver Meadows. We typically have sign in from 9:30-9:45 and try to start by 10.
There are some others tournaments in the state this weekend so there was some concern if we would have enough people for the monthly.
