The new course is AWESOME!! Very challenging, huge variety, great scenery, and fantastic, friendly folks. They really want to do it right and are already talking about putting in another 18 if they get good numbers of DGers. The food is good too, and it's nice to finish hole 9 right by the lodge then sit down for lunch and a beer, then go out and get beat up by the back nine. There are holes for blasters (11, 14, and 17), holes for technicians, holes for needle threaders (3 and 16), and holes not for the easily intimidated (10 and 18). Do yourself a favor and get up there and play and enjoy the surroundings and DG-friendly people. Way to go Bill, Erick, KC, Brandon and anyone else who had a hand in this.
With the variety of activities they have up there, this would be a great place for young families to visit too - fishing for Rainbows and Browns in two stocked ponds, hiking, camping, volleyball, horseshoes, swings for the young'ns, horseback riding, etc.

Like Rich said, GREAT course! I think I'm going back up there again tomorrow... ;D
It's playing pretty tough. Bring your swim trunks, cuz you'll need em'. We're thinking par will be around 59/60, with 5 holes currently qualifying as par 4 material in my mind.
Anyone else have the day off and thinking about playing it?

Played two rounds up there today, shot a 63 and a 62. Chad Johnson is now the proud record holder at 61. Rich first set it at 65 yesterday, to be broke by Brandon E with a 63 in the afternoon. I can at least say I've got the front nine record at 28 ;D. If I could just get a 3 on 14 or make a short putt... I got a three on 16 though! Get up there people, it's just a great experience overall. Sorry we missed ya Todd. Maybe next time. I work all week so won't be able to make it back up till maybe Sunday.

Not a problem KC...sorry I missed the post it sounds like you had a great time. I need to get up there before the monthly to try out the new course and get somewhat familiar with the layout:)
From you comments it sounds like there is a fair amount of water in play? Are you able to retrieve your disc out of most of the water hazards?

From you comments it sounds like there is a fair amount of water in play? Are you able to retrieve your disc out of most of the water hazards? Todd, good question. Bring a pole retriever and a DiscRetriever (available at the Wright Life). The water is not too deep, BUT we've got to be mindful that the ponds are stocked with trout for the fishermen, of which there were a few while we were up there, so we've got to establish some sort of etiquette about Disc Retrieval from the ponds. If a bunch of DGers are entering the ponds it might wreck the atmosphere so we'll have to work something out with the GM of the place - get clarification of the do's and don'ts so we don't cause problems, make a bad impression. I'm going to contact the GM and talk with him about Disc return etiquette to let him know that losing a Disc is not like losing a golf ball, that setting up a Disc Return system is important, that most regular and courteous DGers know enough to get discs back to their rightful owners, and that those unfamiliar with that etiquette should be made aware of that tenet. There are paddle boats for rent and they might be a way of retrieving discs from the middle of the ponds. Going into the ponds barefoot is probably not wise since there are bound to be fishing hooks in there.

Thank you for the pictures it looks really nice up there. It also appears that the water comes into play on a lot of the pin placements.
Thanks KC for checking with the GM to setup a disc retrieval. It will be nice to have the opportunity to get your disc back and not upset the other activities up there. How deep are most of the ponds?

Thanks KC for checking with the GM to setup a disc retrieval. Well, that was Rich who posted last, but I agree, that will be good to have ironed out to start with. They don't seem to be deeper than shoulders in the deepest parts, but I didn't wade out to see. Most of it is pretty shallow. Like Rich said, fishing is one of their other most popular activities, and we don't want to interfere with that. Marvin the GM is very willing to work with us, so we should be open to his requests. If you land within 10 or so feet of the bank you can see it clearly, it would be very easy to dig out with a retriever.
