I saw that DGA plays speed rounds, anyone else? For those who do play speed rounds, why don't we start keeping records here and see who plays better faster. Of course, these scores will probably have to be kept via the "honor system," so no cheating Doug ; !!!!!! I guess we could just put down what course was played and final score. I noticed Max adds a minute per stroke to his final time, I prefer, how long it takes and what the score was. Anyone else up for this; any other thoughts on scores?

I'm down for speed rounds. Mikey has a system for adding the score (relative to par) to his time to determine the final score/time... but I've talked to him about this and we agreed that you'd have to adjust that system depending on which course you are playing since some courses can be played much faster than others (CLP vs Redfeather). I think the way to do it is to set some kind of time criteria for each specific course; kinda like a "time par" for the course... then you could take a stroke off, or add a stroke, to your score for each minute(or 30 seconds or whatever) you are over/under the "time par." We need some kind of set scoring system though, otherwise we can't say whether an even par round at edora in 15 minutes is better or worse than 7-down in 20 minutes.
On a related note... Pat and I were wondering how many rounds you could get in at CLP in one day.... That would be a good place to try to set the "most holes in a day" record.

speed rounds are all I have time for anymore I like the idea of having different record times for specific scores. It makes it hard to compare whether a 10min -2 round is better than a 20min -10 round but once we have a rough idea of a table of record times for the specific scores we could figure out the rating scale. Thats how the player ratings were developed. So go set the record somewhere. Don't expect to play a speed round even at CLP unless it is at an "off" hour. 7:30-9:30 Sat. morning worked for me. I played 54 holes, only ran 3 complete rounds

each record table will have to be for a specific course. So far for CLP: -9 18:00ish -8 5:07 -7 4:38 -6 4:38 -5 4:38 -4 etc. Since Mike's round at 4:38 was a -7 he would own all the records below that at his time if that makes sense. So someone get out there and fly through there and put up some numbers.

Maybe we should also add things like: weather(wind, wet, perfect), how many discs and which ones. I should have no problems getting around any course, due to the fact that I'm typically not an afternoon player. I know Edora is just about empty(couple of older guys, they almost always let me play through) between 7 and 10:30ish in the a.m. The last speed round I played at Edora(which was many months ago)I shot somewhere around 4/5 down in 22 min(I am positive on time, not score). Also, I guess we should pay attention to course layout, when playing Edora. That prior score was when Edora was set very easy, six-eight were back in at this time. I'm gonna be getting out there sometime this week, so I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes(man I'm getting old). I get what you are saying there about time, DGA. I agree that we can come up with some sort of rating scale, once we collect the "data." Look forward to seeing some wicked fast times and hopefully, scores.

Nice calm morning with 50 deg temps...oh wait that was yesterday.......hehheeeeeeeeeee its funny how the better you shoot the easier it is to run a quick one. That 2-putting is a killer Whos gunna post a time??

as far as gimme's go, if you can't put your arm out from your lie and touch the bottom of the basket u gotta putt it!!! speed tip 101~if you get close to the end of your round and you don't need the disc that is on the ground, throw from behind it and keep moving without picking it up. Go get it after the round. Time starts before you throw tee 1 and ends after the putt drops on the last hole. u got the time? bb.....bbb.......bbbbring it!!

So, I gave it a run and shoot this morning and it was absolutely brutal. Played 2 rounds at Edora for a total of 46:00 and shot 115 Round 1- miserable round all birdies and a lot of par shots ricocheted out-shot a 61, 23:00(OUCH)By hole 12 my head was banging !!!! Round 2- couldn't leave with such a lousy score-ran again and shot a 54,23:00(again)-a little better, but still missed a bunch of birdies and had a doubble and a few bogeys Weather during the first round was perfect, besides being only in the upper 30's(a little chilly during first 5 holes)-no wind-no other players Wind picked up during second round-maybe 10-15 mph sporadically, but overall still really good. Course is set up different(thanx to whoever moved baskets)it is in a great set-up for speed rounds-could definitely shoot 4-7 down-Definitely know this is no record !!!! I don't have a stopwatch, so I just used my phone I'll probably give it a shot again Wednesday or Friday, hopefully with a real score to post ;D!

My god man, -9 is a wicked score especially running !! When did you do this? I guess this should be a standard to try and play to, maybe just speed it up a little, get it somewhere in the lower 20's like DGA was saying. Way to go Pat, you trying to make me feel bad or what !! Seriously though, good shooting.

I ran through Edora this morning, about 9:30. I shot -6 (48) in 22:10. Not too bad, I missed about 8 putts between 20-40 feet for birdies, but I was bogey-free. I did have a slight delay as I had to fish my drive out of the water on #9, fortunately I made my circle-3 putt. I played the front at -1 in 12:20, and the back at -5 in 9:50. Parking holes (like I did on the back) definitely helps the time! This wasn't bad, but I can definitely see a double-digit round in under 20 minutes as a possibility. Jeff, if you ever want to meet up for a morning speed-round let me know. Peace - Evan

I'm pretty sure I could do Redfeathers at +6 in about 3.5 hours...that's pretty good and fast, right? Evan, we'll play so you can watch my white gut flash out from under my shirt when i get running...
