If you could actually run mitch, you'd probably do great because you wouldn't have to worry about speeding up your putting process or anything... ... he kinda looks like a baby... mmmmm....

Alright, I finally got a under par round today ;D!! Ended up at -3(51)23:15 total time. I started on 1 and was -4 by 10. Drive on 10 hit the lone spruce on the right, had a reasonable, yet tough, putt after a mediocre upshot. Missed my putt and rolled into the water, ended up with a triple bogey . Took me about 2-3 minutes just to fish my (black)putter outta the drainage pond . DEFINITELY could shoot 7-10 down with the layout the way it is now. I think the main lesson that I'm learning playing speed rounds is WHEN TO LAY UP; it sucks two or three putting, because I'm just going for everything. I'll learn one of these days.

I got ya Evan ;D ;D!!! 20:30min/-6(48). Couldn't have been a more perfect morning for DG. Zero wind, just warm enough, and only two people on the course, whom I never saw till the end. Had two bogeys, 9 and 10 . I don't have time to pull my phone out of my pocket(can't even close it while I run)so I don't know what my mid-round time is, I know I was at -3 coming into hole 9. I'm starting to get used to this running thing, it definitely was really tough the first couple of times . Depending on the weather, I'll probably be out there around 9-9:15 tomorrow morning. I agree with Evan that one of us could in all reason shoot double-digit-down, under 20 min. I guess we'll see.

Wow, I'm totally impressed to see disc golfers doing something that resembles fitness! Way to go lads.
To make it work, there should be a time per stroke rule. Like +10 seconds for strokes over and -10 seconds for strokes under. This way you get an objective round number by which to compare with other scores and you retain the incentive to Go For It. If 10 seconds doesn't work then make it 20 or 30 or whatever. If the name is "speed golf" then the emphasis is on maintaining an acceptable level of skill and Going Fast!
Not in any way to sound nasty, but this is a very stark contrast to some of the "clubbers" I see out there playing every round like it's the freakin' Masters and slowing the entire circuit down. I've casually played 18 by myself in the time I see "big-bag" players play 9.
See Ya

thats exactly how it works in speed golf competition. For a short course like Laporte each stroke under par you subtract like 10 seconds, Edora maybe 15 and a longer course like Red Feathers 20 seconds. and vice versa for over par

Edora -8 unrecorded time because I got caught behind a younger kid and his mom and didn't have the heart to play through on hole 16. I was wanting sub-20min round and was dying out there. Two bogeys too. I birdied 18 with a drive that skipped under the tree in the right position, that was probably my highlight. I then proceeded to walk down to the creek on hole #7 and tryed cleaning out the creek up to hole #11, filthy, I felt emarassed for the community. My hands still stink :>) probably 60 gallons of trashy-ness. I saw the pile of mulch, I have spring break next week, let me know if we can do some work.

Right on Dougie, good score, better clean-up !! You're definitely tougher than me, getting in that water and cleaning poopie-garbage.

Edora Sat. Morn -10 21:43 bogey free shot a perfect back 9 (Skip Aced hole 14, missed 18 in the long left position). unbelievable. I was only -1 after the front nine, it helped that 10 was short left, sixteen was a tester with the left placement right next to the sidewalk and hole one is now in the long. on hole #13 I teed from dirt patch and #14 from sidewalk, I want a sub 20 min round.

HOLY SNIKES -10 !!! That's awesome Doug!! I've been meaning to find out where people were teeing from on 13 and 14. I've been playing from the sidewalk in between the trees, kinda the old tee box, for 13. 14, I've been playing from the sidewalk deep(by the parking spots). 10 down in the time you got seems pretty darn good. I hear you though, it would be cool to get sub-20min round. Got my work cut out for me now I guess. I haven't ever gotten a double digit down score before so we'll see !

If you guys are playing so well in speed rounds, then why are some people still playing like turtles? What do people think is a respectable time to take for 18 holes at Edora? What is considered bad form? Seeing that most people are just out there to have fun, and the course is pretty d**n crowded, perhaps slow play should be addressed.

I would say that on averge club members take waaaaaayyyy longer to play 18 holes than non-club members. Partly because they have bags to set down, they are marking their lie, and practicing all the etiquitte they know while the typical high schooler or college student thows one of the two discs he/she has and starts walking up the fairway as soon as he/she releases and everyone else throws around him/her. When they get up to their lie the just throw regardless of who's out, or who may be in the fairway ahead of them. The typical club member will wait basically till nobody is playing the same hole they are trying to tee on and won't throw out of turn or if they could possibly injur someone. On the putting green is where things slow down the most probably with the club pro taking 20 practice pumps and waiting till nobody is moving or in line of sight to putt while rec players often putt at the same time while talking to each other. Definately different styles of play and the speed of these generalized two groups really clash with each other. Rec players end up skipping holes to go around slow club type players. What I dislike about ball-golf courses is the capitalistic ontrapanuer trying to push everyone through the track as fast as possible to make more tee times. Maybe a middle ground somewhere?

Ran through Edora this morning. -8 in 20:16. My goal was a sub-20 minute round... didn't quite make it! I had one bogey - My birdie putt on 4 nubbed off and rolled down the hill for a four... if that putt had nubbed in instead I would have been -10 and I'm sure I would have made it under 20 minutes... oh well... still my best so far. - Evan

Nice shooting and good time. I'll have to try and get out some time soon, to get somewhat close to you and DGA.
