Hope everyone's gonna make it out for this... it should be fun! It has been advertised that Edora will be layed out in all the short positions... that would be cool... but... how is this going to happen? I think it is going to be hard to move any pins because they are frozen in... aren't they? Somebody mentioned that the plan was to maybe use shorter tees??? Is that what the plan is? It will probably be pretty sloppy out there this weekend... Natural Tees might be a bad idea... Anybody know what's up with all that?

Excellent points Evan- this needs to be addressed quickly. Who ever has keys to ALL of the baskets needs to check it out. I agree that natural tees is a bad idea. The injury risk is too great when you don't have sure footing, especially on drives. One thing's for sure, we can't screw up two months in a row, or else noone will come up/out for any more of our monthlies. Can we just bang on 'em w/ a sledge hammer to break them free, or take a small torch to 'em and melt it? What about the prospective placements? Are they filled w/ ice too? Maybe we can pour some kind of non-corrosive ice melter pellet stuff down the sleeves? I think there's a liquid ice melter too, that you put in your wiper fluid reservoir- maybe that would work best. I've also used spray can for lock de-icing, and one that you also just spray across your windshield when it's iced over. Or, we can just do the birdie love thing later in the year when we can move every basket.

hmmm...very good points Grandma Brummer y Ocho. We definitely need to get on this soon! Hopefully by Saturday the pins should be thawed enough in most spots to move them to the short pins. The weather is supposed to be above 45 Thurs-Sat and even near 60 on Saturday, so hopefully all will be fine. But we should still prepare and check to see which pins we may have issue with....I could go out to the course after 5 any day this week with someone that has the keys and check all pins and short placements. At worst we could figure out the holes that we may have issues with and get some portables together for Saturday...I have 2 I will throw in my trunk just in case

I'm pretty sure that in the past, we've just used a hand torch to thaw the sleeves. De-icer may work too. If we have several days of warm weather things should be thawed for the most part. Would need to move baskets in the afternoon. I agree that nat. teepads at this time of year and with wet/uneven ground is WAY to dangerous for people. I have the club basket in my backyard that could be used if a basket won't come out of it's present placement. The post is a little crooked, but not real bad(not any worse than #2 basket). Just let me know if you guys need it and we'll figure something out. Have fun on Sunday, maybe one day I'll actually be able to play again.

Thanks for the input, everyone.
Since I'm not the TD (that would be Brandon), I can't say for sure what will happen, but I agree that short, natural tees (if icy, etc) might not be the best idea. Really, though, the slickness/swampyness depends on where they are, and if positioned correctly, we could have some cool, different shots.
BUT, if we decide its a bad idea altogether, between everyone we have plenty of baskets to cover the four holes that aren't already reachable by most competitive players (holes #1, #6, #10, #11).
Regardless, I will see what will move, and what pins are frozen tight later today.

is anyone from Greeley heading out that way. I need a ride and I have a disc catcher sport with a 2nd set of inner chains and a skill shot if needed. Otherwise the greyhound is 16 bucks, which coming up with 10 is hard enough as it is. broke college kid

Thanks B and club NoCo for all the effort to pull together such a fun event. It was nice to get out and see everyone and get to play with great individuals. In the past I have been turned-off a bit by players taking things so seriously (myself included)it ends up being kind of a drag to play events. Maybe its the non-sanctioned/fund-raising element that helps people just go have a good time. I had a great time. Fun to be in groups where the playas were playing great golf while maintaining professionalism in their attitudes. Pat, Sean, KC, Brandon that to me is maintaining the spirit of the game that we enjoy so much. Good stuff The dark-side to competition is when players think their strength is in other players weaknesses and then the player-hatin vibes get rolling and it can be quite toxic especially to newcomers. The true essence of competition is wanting other competitors to play their best, then victory has a sweetness to it. Actually then just playing has a sweetness to it. Thanks guys
