Howdy all,
Great site. Just wondering if anyone has tried or heard anything good or bad about the plans for sale on e-bay for a build it your self basket, it sounds pretty good for ten bucks, but figured I'd ask here to see if anyone knew any thing. Thanks for any input.
Also, was at Edora today and signed a petition to save the course?! What's that all about?!
Thanks!

Hey there,
I haven't heard anything about those plans for a basket, and I couldn't seem to find them on ebay. Maybe you could post a link to the auction?
The petition is in response to the changes that have been proposed for the course. A few holes are scheduled to be removed, and some of the holes would be shortened to the point of being, basically, useless.
The main goal of the petition is to show how much use the course gets, and how much support there is for disc golf in this area. Of course, we'd all like to see more courses go in, too. Time will tell what the actual effect will be, but at least city officials will be aware of the traffic Edora gets.
The good news is that, thanks in part to the petition, it looks like the city is realizing they need be more supportive of disc golf and plan for its inevitable growth in popularity. Check back here at the site, we'll keep you posted on any updates as they happen.

If it is as comprehensive as they claim, I would probably gamble the ten bucks just to check it out. It sounds pretty easy since they give you part numbers for everything, no hunting around for correct sizes/materials. The basket itself looks good for putting practice, as the chain area seems around "spec". If I was building it though, I'd try to increase the depth of the basket on the bottom, it looks pretty shallow. I'd also hang more chains closer to the pole. Can't have too many chains in there Let us know how it works out, or better yet, bring it out to league someday! Following the lead of mountain bikers is a good idea. They have about the same impact as disc golf on the environment, and they are definitely working with a lot of available, prime space that could be used for disc golf.

Hi, I just wondered if there was a link to this website where people outside the club could make a contact to the pres. or vice pres. etc. with outside info?

It is something I've wanted to do since the beginning, but have put off due to the low traffic the site was getting at first. It is a great idea, though, and I'll get it up soon.
For now, I will start a new thread for contact info for the directors. Look for a link from the homepage soon.

It looks like the thing's all held together with landscape plastic and zippy ties. For $60 or so that seems kinda steep.
What do people know about the "In-Step" baskets you can get on e-bay? Comments I've read seem to suggest that you can easily hang more chains on them to make a pretty good set-up, though obviously not as sturdy as a Mach III or Discatcher.
What's the realism like when throwing to the umbrella type nylon baskets? Could you use them in a make shift tourney or are they just for practice putting?
Does anyone else think it's silly that buying a home basket involves paying for and shipping fence posts and steel chains that you can buy at Home Depot? All we really need is for someone to sell the basket and the crown, then we can shop around for hardware.

Yes, it's different putting into the portable baskets, you can "feel" how much lighter the chains are. We have used the portables for extra holes for leagues, as well as non-sanctioned tourneys. You hear some noise about it, but overall I think people realize it's just nice to have the extra holes to play. I don't think the "ching" is PDGA approved for tourneys, but I would guess the "mach lite" probably is.
