So I say lets discuss a schedule for the fall/winter season so I can post an updated bulletin at the course as to where we want to play. I say we include Edora, Boltz, Red Feather/Estes in the rotation, FCH IMO is not a valid option at this time due to lack of baskets and the course being in limbo. I like what we can do at Boltz and have even considered looking at a few extra holes across the street on the east side of the bridge. We could probably put 3 good long holes over there and make a pretty sweet 21 hole course with the back nine that KC has designed. The 18 seems to be playing pretty well, I don't believe anyone has shot in the 40s yet so I think this is a good change from Edora and good practice for all. If we can agree on a good schedule soon, we can put it in place next month and have it ride out until next year. The only tourney left on the schedule that most locals will be playing after JRM will be States so there won't be as many Sundays that a lot of people will be out of town, States will probably be my last sanctioned of the year as well. Red Feather/Estes will be tougher to get up too when the winter months approach as most are not keen on playing in inclement conditions. I vote for keeping Edora and Boltz in the mix and having one day that we travel unless there is a good response for 2 travel days a month. That being said, I think we should play Edora this Sunday for those that are not going to Snow Mountain, maybe if it is not crowded we can add 3 safari holes or so and play 21 holes. I will be out of town the following Sunday, and many will be at JRM, so if those who are not going want to have leagues in town, let me know so I can have somebody run it and post that there will be leagues in town. I don't think the current turnout for Sunday league can support a traveling league. It's a nice idea... but it's not working right now. I think Sunday league should either be suspended for the time being... or become stationary at Edora park. Same time, same place is the only way that a better turnout might be had... Despite Brandon's good, and well appreciated efforts, Sunday league needs to take a step backwards or not happen at all. Johnson is right, 5 or 6 people is not enough people to justify actually running a formal league. Now if just a handful of individuals want to get together and play for money somewhere... that's all good. Perhaps an alternative to a weekly league needs to be put in place... (more later...gotta go to work) - Evan

I think the idea of keeping them stationary at Edora is a smart call, until more show up. Did we stop running Doubles on thurs. due to lack of attendance or did it pick up? I don't know what the problem with a few people showing up is, do you guys play winner takes all? I would like Sunday leagues to be around if I actually get a chance to play one here and there. I would honestly be down with playing, so long as I was on a card where people didn't have a problem with a 10 month old making some noise every so often(my secret weapon). I just don't like the idea of a club function(no matter how small)taking a step backward. If people don't want to play for money, that's fine I think. Again, I know I don't play enough sundays, but as I said before I think it's a good thing for the club. Brandon, if you want me to, I'll post some flyers around town to help out. Just give me the lowdown and consider it done. I may even be a good sub for when you're gone(so long as they are at Edora, and weather permitting). Those sundays could be good test runs for tag challenges possibly. I could hang with the kid while people are out. If that's what it takes and noone else thinks it's worth their time, I'll give mine. Brandon, we can talk about that some time in person.

The prior post here kinda got jumbled at the end. When I was speaking of "Those Sundays," I was refering to when there was noone to run league and/or not enough people and there is a general concensus that paying is just not an option. Maybe something else is that if not enough folks show up, the few there can decide if they just want to play tags or skins or whatever.

Wow an actual civil conversation that I can put my 2 cents into! I like all the ideas that we have going on here but I think we need to look at out structure as a whole. Has Sunday ever even been an actual league with tallied results, organized set-up and awards? In my opinion Sundays have been the, everyone show up and play for some cash and have a good time day. Tuesdays have always been the organized leagues. I think that Sundays should get turned into our official Sunday tags match. I know that we do tags on Tues as well but it is more about the league and $$ than tags. I think then as well we could post on the MHDG site on their tags schedule that Sunday is tags match in Fort Collins and have a set schedule of where we are playing..side cash bets if needed obviously.
On a side note this would be a April-Oct set in stone schedule. Before April and after October we don't have time to even have leagues on Tues. and could then have a Winter league from Oct.-Apil where we play league on Sundays. It would be set and everyone would know what to expect on Tues and Sundays. I feel then we can set scedules of courses based on the seasons and post these on Mile high and our site. As a result we have an official summer league with awards and results and then create a longer winter league...and see who the real die-hards are!!
I think that the disc golf community here has amazing spirit and positive motivation just not enough organization to make things happen as a whole....b/c nothing is going to happen if we don't work as a unit. Its too easy for the city to shrug us off one at a time. If we can get things set then league development will be so much easier...gettting New Belgium and Odell's to sponsor our winter league with some winter beer promotions is a off the top example, etc., tourney dates set with coinciding league events year in and out. We as a Co disc golf community raised more $ for the Food Bank of the Rockies than anyone else last year. All these facts along with an organized structure to build on, year in and out will be huge for our community involvement. In such a small town, if we want new courses and the respect that we feel we deserve we need to show the city that we are organized and motivated league with goals in mind that include the community as a whole.
I also know that I am not involved enough and its real easy to spout these ideas and do nothing about them but I hope for that to change in the near future. As a whole everyone that posts on these boards are the heart and soul and this league and need to actual start meeting and doing instead of talking and pointing!! including me

That's a good way to put it Pat. I like the idea of posting it(tag matches) on the MH website, one great solution to advertising. Honestly, I wish I had thought of it. Thanks for putting forth some reasonable and attainable suggestions. If and when you decide to get a heavier hand in things, let me know and I'll do what I can to help you out.
