I may or may not be available to run Sunday leagues this week, my b-day is Saturday and someone is cooking me dinner ;D and do not know what my sunday plans are just yet, I think Edora would be a good place to meet up for those who want to play, and I think we should discuss what we want to do with leagues for the Fall/Winter, I think the guaranteed $100 ace pot is going away, there is aboue 70 or 80 in the current Sunday pot, so I was thinking of capping the ace at 50 until it builds a little more in case someone hits one soon, just to have something to follow it up. If someone would like to dedicate themselves to Sunday, I would be willing to take over Tuesdays for the Fall.

I'll run it this week if you can't make it, and since I'm out there basically every week, I'd be willing to take over for awhile. I already have plans to be out of town a bit this fall, here's the dates: - Sunday, Sept 9 (Solitude)
- Sunday, Sept 23 (Johnny Roberts)
- Sunday, Oct 14 (States)
- Sometime in late October for a couple weekendss (probably two Sundays)
Can you, or anyone else out there, cover some of those weeks? I assume you'll play in at least a couple of those, and I know you're gone to Texas during Solitude.

I will be here next weekend, I will miss the Sunday during Johnny b/c that is when I plan on being in TX. I plan on being at COstates as well. I can run it if I am there, I would just like to see more dedicated Sunday golfers and more communication between those that are playing elsewhere on Sunday. I am just getting tired of showing up to run leagues and there are only 4-5 people playing golf.

I'm not playing Solitude or Johnny so I'll be around for those potentially. Though there isn't much need for somebody to specifically "run" things if as B says there are only 4-5 people.
Anyway, anybody want to play Redfeather this Sunday. I haven't been up there in like 2 months and would love to spend the day there. If I had a vote... it would be for Sundance! You can even come up and join the fun for round 2 B, after you sleep off your birthday hangover!

hopefully I will be 'tied' up on Sunday , but we'll see as for not needing anybody to specifically 'run' leagues, I agree, but downsides: -with the small turnouts and small club scene we have at the moment, I am all about promoting the club and getting more people in the area to play competitively, if someone asks and the answer is just, "yeah, people play on Sundays, uh, sometimes, and, uh, somewhere, that does not get people out of bed on Sunday to play golf IMO, and... -it is kind of hard to have a continuous ace pool when people are doing different things every Sunday, if there is no organization then 2 or 3 people can show up, at lets say Edora, and say they are playing leagues, hit an ace, and then say, where's my ace money?, when maybe that weekend I or someone else approved to run leagues was out of town, did not post anywhere, hey, no leagues everybody, and then what do you do? I know this could happen, b/c just about every time I leave town, come back, someone walks up to me and says, oh, hey, we played golf sunday, there was 8 of us, here's the ace pot money, for ex. I would say a solution would be to have 2-3 people (or more) to be approved to run Sundays/Tuesdays, people that could COMMUNICATE with each other, coordinate schedules month to month or further into the future, post these schedules at the course and on this site, and be dedicated to run the league on the dates they have committed to, and this would make things more official. ideas and opinions??

I agree with B, 100%. If I were free on Sundays I'd do it in a heartbeat. I suppose I could do it when it's at Edora, however I wouldn't be able to play due to I'd have the kid. It would be difficult but if it means keeping Sunday leagues then I figure it needs to be taken care of. Hopefully there is someone who could be more reliable than myself. I would have to be a LAST RESORT fill in, but I could probably swing it once in a blue moon.

Where are we playing this Sunday (9/2) ? Some Denver guys are playing Sundance, what time IDK. I'm down for blasting the ranch. Maybe we can just shoot some video if the turn-out's too small to support league's. What's the word?

I'm glad to hear people talking about this, as I feel this discussion is definitely needed. More structure is needed with regard to our weekly events. I'm sure we've got plenty of able and willing people to help, but we do need to communicate and work together more. If we want the club and leagues to grow, the players need a solid base they can count on.
This week is a good example of the last minute decisions we find ourselves making. If I was new to the area, I would want to know at least a week if not a month or two in advance where to be. This probably has a lot to do with why not too many make it out.
I suggest we stick to a set schedule like we had earlier this year, and make sure it is always current and posted at the relevant locations (Wr. Life, Edora, website, etc.) I feel that as club secretary it may fall under my duties to archive, update, and re-post when needed these kind of communications, but really anyone can do it as long as they are literate and reliable.
I think we should have two people, one primary, one backup, who both know what they're doing to share responsibility for each weekly event. One person total should be designated to update the flyers around town when needed, and info for all the events should be on a single, well done flyer. When something needs changing, the two running that event can just call this person with the new info. Less clutter on the message board, same info at all locations, and consistency should help legitimize these events and attract more players.
My three cents...

3 cents, what are you, an aristocrat?? ;D I agree totally, seeing as how I and KC seem to be the most frequent Sunday leaguers, and both are frequently communicating via web and person, I feel comfortable being the top two for Sunday info. Like a said, I want the scene to grow but I don't want to be the only one in charge of a weekly 4-8 person weekly mini. I always have Sunday's off and most likely always will (job benefit) so I don't mind promoting the club on Sunday at all and I get to play golf all day if I want, depending on the COWBOYS schedule of course I just want some backup, mostly just with communication and dedicated players. The way I feel, if you aint workin Sunday, then there is no reason to not get together with your boys and play a round, at least, but that is just me. I have been leaning towards puting up a flyer at the bulletin board that has mostly just contact info (email, phone, website) and having this forum as the most accurate league info (location, structure, ace pot, etc.) So if I can get just a few backers that are willing to just be 'contacts' to be posted I feel that is a step in the right direction. I know that KC and I play a lot of the same tourneys so just having 1 backup behind us could cover those wkends. I realize that the season is winding down and there will be less golf and less time to play, but I feel that Sundays could be a great outlet for the winter seeing as how Tuesdays will be almost dead, especially for you 9 to 5ers, and barring good weather Sundays should be the best day to focus on golf, especially this time of year when there are few tourneys. I know I have all that cold weather gear for a reason, even if it only sees the light of day for a few months. So, anyway, I guess the point is, if you want to step up and help promote, then say so now, and I will put out a bulletin with contacts, times, dates, locations, etc. and we can get the ball rolling on the Fall/Winter schedule. I just hope we don't have our USUAL blizzard conditions this Winter been drinking, in fact still drinking, yet there is relevant info here. PEACE

We should stay in the Fort this Sunday since we are playing DDC at Edora after league. We could just play Edora... but my vote is for Boltz + a safari backnine... I think you guys have done this before, so maybe we could use the same layout.
Since people have been meeting at 10 to travel to other towns for league... are we still not golfing until 11 if we play in the Fort, or are we meeting at 10 and starting earlier?

I know I'm new to the area, however I did run a leauge back at home for the past 2 years. It is/was. a successful league and has constant show up. I do like to play tourneys as often as possible, but if there is any way I can help let me know. I love this game and the people too. There is a way to make things work and I would say that making it as least complicated as possible would probably help. Not sure if you are trying to make it more structured or increase overall attendence, but there is a way to go about both. Like I said guys I am new to this scene but back at home we have a league that runs saturdays rain, snow, awesome weather, or a tourney day. We get between 8 and 26 players. The payout and the precharge is a bit different but it still has a consistent turnout. We also have a league that runs on tuesdays that is probably our best league. It is a highly trafficed 9 hole course with alt. however we have an upper and lower pool with handicaps. There is a regular set of players there and on a high note we have had 56 before. There is a way to get new players out there and have the same players come back. If there is any way to help let me know as I would like to contribute some way or form.

I would tape the game however it is not shown on any local channels and is for me only viewable at a bar, darn! Either way sunday is usually my best day to huk, hopefully I will see you guys tomm.

Seems like it would benefit your club if you planned these things out at the beginning of the season and stuck to it. I'm assuming tournaments are planned in advance, so why all the last minute changes to accommodate them? Having a system that keeps people wondering until the last minute excludes people who plan their lives in advance. If the board says this Sunday is at Boltz, shouldn't it be safe to assume that someone can just show up at Boltz? Should they feel the need to drive to Edora first to see if the message got changed or get into the forum Sunday morning to see last minute plans? Pretty weird if you ask me. But I'm just the new guy who hasn't played much with you. Sorry if I come across as too negative. Just sharing my reactions. Food for thought: Sunday is scheduled for Edora, and the core group of a half dozen decide to go to RedFeather at the last minute. For some reason, now the club is officially not at Edora. But if I show up there and play, and get an Ace, do I collect? Or does the Ace pool follow the core group? This assumes I even give a s**t about money after hitting an Ace that I'll remember for the rest of my life.
