Today, I went to play a "quick" speed round before work. I get my iPod all set up with the stopwatch and tunes, and get ready to blast.
I tee off on hole one, and bomb it. As I'm running I notice it go into the far out tree, on the left(threw a big forehand, surprise). I get there and it takes me about 5 minutes to find my disc. After throwing rocks at it for a while I decide to just climb up and start over. Walking back to one's teepad I find a champion beast, just lying there. Looked like it had been in the lake or something.
I tee off on hole one, again. This time I blast this one all the way out to the left heading for the parking lot. I don't know if any of you guys have been out there in a while, but I landed in that dumpster, in the far left corner. I couldn't believe it. I rummaged around through there for, maybe two minutes. Played my shot where I went out and ran off with a bogey.
As I'm playing, I keep missing my putts. Whether it was from 30 or 3 feet!!! I make it all the way to hole 7. Oh the dreaded hole 7 ( you feel me Todd). I throw what looked to be a decent, not great, but decent drive. Only to watch my disc hit the edge of the bank and go racing into the raging, murky river. At this point I'm cursing, rather profusely and completely in shock.
I hunted for my disc there for a few minutes and finally had to give up( I say a few minutes, more like 10). I begin to play with the muddy, river champ beast. It's ok, but it was flying all kinds of wobbly.
I make it all the way around to hole 12 and throw my drive. It lands maybe 8 feet from the basket. I get up there and completely, and when I say completely, I mean COMPLETELY, miss my putt!!!!!!!!!! I totally lost my marbles. I don't think I have EVER been that mad while playing disc. I let out a HUGE curse word ( great for the sport, huh?); you guys can take a guess at what it was, doesn't really matter. I flung the muddy river champ beast and AGAIN miss the basket.
So I just stormed off the course.
Moral of the story, don't miss your putts and walk away from the game if you aren't having fun. Isn't that Bill Wright's slogan, THE MOST FUN WINS? So true, so true.
If, by any chance, someone finds, or sees someone else with a blue champion Xcaliber from JRM '08 let me know. Name and number are on it. I don't know, maybe I should just let it go? This is the only time it's let me down.
Anyways, thought I'd share a "I can't believe this is happening to me" round.
