Has anyone played either of the courses in Steamboat? I am headed up there this week and pulled the directions off the PDGA but wondered if anyone has shot there.

I only know of one course in Steamboat... plays around the bottom of the ski slopes. I've heard it's good, but I don't think the baskets are in yet. They take the baskets out for the winter and they should be going back in any time now but I heard they weren't in yet, as of last week.

Thank you for reply. According to PDGA there is a 9 hole (out of Steamboat slightly) and the 18 at the base of the mountain. Hopefully the baskets will be in this week. I will let you know when I get back.

I helped build the steps on the course at Colorado Mountain College in steamboat... that was probably about 7 years ago now though. In any case, it was real fun at the time! It used to be up in the far back NW corner of the campus...

I found the course above the Colorado Mountain College today but did not have time to play. Hopefully tomorrow.
There is a new 18 basket course across the street from the Steamboat Grand Hotel but they are doing work adding a new lift so it is closed this summer more then likely.

The 18 basket course located across from the Steamboat Grand Hotel and Resort will not be opened this year and might not be available until 2010 due to construction of some additional lifts at the bottom of the hill.

That's not what I heard yesterday from Ron Panessi, who is pretty much the course pro/designer/etc. He said they are having some legal insurance issues that they are trying to resolve currently. Hopefully the course will be in the ground sometime in the next few weeks.

I was on the first tee and had disc with me but my wife was nervous about playing the course because it is on the side of a hill and had a lot of trees and bushes, and she was afraid that she would lose her disc.
It would have been fun to play but you have to keep the wife happy and she did not volunteer to walk around with me while I played:) We go up every summer so maybe next year.

You will have to let me know if the baskets do get put in. My information came from the Steamboat Grand and they indicated the baskets were not in because of construction and the fact the grass was reseeded etc. Sounds like your information is much more accurate.
It looks like it would be a very challenging and fun course.
