I think it would be a good idea to install, near the bulletin board, a LOST DISC RECEPTACLE. The receptacle can be opened every league night/day and those who've lost discs can re-claim them then. My first idea was to find an old street corner mailbox like ones the post office uses. It has a door that only lets someone put something in it and not take anything out. This may not work because some knucklehead WILL TRY to put trash or something other than a lost disc in it and that would be annoying. So, maybe the best solution is to construct a box with a slot just big enough to fit a disc through and a retrieval hatch secured w/ a lock (hopefully one that is keyed the same as the basket locks). I think the box should be made of metal so it can withstand the weather. The box needs to be big enough to hold up to 10 discs or so, but small enough we can mount it to the bulletin board's posts. If anyone has access to sheet metal and welding equipment, this is your time to shine! If not, then the club can probably contract a sheet metal shop to do the project in no time.

you might ask the course manager (Doug) what he thinks and get permission from parks/

I think it's a good idea. I bet you could just bolt it to back side of the sign and the park wouldn't notice/care. When I originally read that thread, I had just read another bantering thread about how one person's key to the sign didn't work anymore so he was just unscrewing the thing. Figured if the trolls will go leach fishing they'd sure as hell try to break open a Christmas present full of plastic. Better be a sturdy box. Wish I knew how to weld. Of course, then I wouldn't be asking about buying cheapo ebay baskets too! -Michael One more thing: If the club had exclusive access to the box, they could collect, say, a dollar for each disc claimed and send it to finders who taped their info to the found discs. This way good samaritan's know there's something in it, and they eliminate the hassle of tracking you down. Any disc that remains unclaimed still can be sold for club funds or returned to the finder. Good Karma spreads like Kudzu (sorry, I used to live in the South).

Parks is in receipt of a rough draft of a Rules & Etiquette sign that they will print up and install, after consulting City Attorneys. Would you want mention of the Lost Disc Receptacle and what one should do with found discs on there?

I would think just mimicking this model would work best, which would be somewhat self-explanatory. I don't see a need to change the sign, plus, it may take a while to get something like this installed.
I think we should install one of these for sure. What a great idea!

Just want to say thanks to Chad Johnson for getting this rolling. Have wanted one in Cheyenne for 3 years as it helps build a sense of community as opposed to every man for himself. What discs can't be returned to their owners might be donated to various groups / schools. It's a good thing all around. Well done.

I think that a lot of props have to go out to Tina. She fishes disc out of the water and if your name is on them she will call you. Vince just got back 2 disc that he lost. She does a great service to the disc golf community. I would like to say Thanks Tina.
