What are the time-lines for the two alternate holes to be installed at Edora? (ie tee pads final design and construction, tee signs, pin locations etc.) Can we have a committee of sorts to review/analyze/ratify/design these two holes? There is alot of accumulative disc golf experience in Fo Co and it might serve the club and the community well to draw on this resource in designing these 2 holes. I just thought a line of communication would be good in order to discuss or share thoughts/opinions. thoughts or info much appreciated

Any modification of the course deserves some serious brainstorming, especially considering the unique features available in that part of the park, and the safety concerns with the playground nearby. The variety of input a group of experienced players could provide would be a benefit in my opinion. I also feel that the design we have now could use some improvement as far as flow of play, and possibly best use of available terrain. Rushing into a layout would definitely be a mistake, I'd like to see it be the best it can possibly be.

This whole thing started when we found out that a certain neighbor was complaining about the pond having too many "guests" looking for discs and other infractions. I was contacted by parks and rec. with this problem and because this was a hole we didn't want to give up we came to an arrangement. We would trade 2 holes for the one(#11) we will lose as soon as the pond freezes. We got a design then and it didn't work because the school district doesn't want us on their land. So I made arraignments with parks again to get temps put in because we lost holes #6 #8 and I had found old anchors we could put baskets up right way. the space we have is limited and there was a time crunch. When working with Parks and Rec I have noticed that things go lightning fast or very slow. I was told the cement truck is on its way back in Aug. and that we needed to meet right away and set holes up. what you see now is the result. I would love to meet with anyone who has ideas and would like to help. But don't be sad if the cement truck comes today, or before I can meet with parks again.

concrete truck any day? there needs to be excavation and forming of the pads, who is going to do this, it certainly needs to be done before the truck shows up. hopefully the pad has only enough slope on it to drain water and is otherwise flush with the surrounding ground. are the teepads going to be rectangle shape or trapezoidal? dimensions? hopefully they are finished with a "rough broom finish" for traction. Can we have a meeting soon to discuss and plan? I am free except for 9-3 mon, tues, wed, fri.

anyone with thoughts or opinions~ Sunday after leagues everyone is invited to convene at the two alternate holes, I will communicate the restrictions involved and would love to hear any input or ideas on these holes. Hopefully we can all brainstorm and make a club decision on what to do. Time is of the essence, if you can't make leagues on Sunday but have any input feel free to call me Doug Allen 970-232-4245

From the feedback I recieved from the club's voices it seems like the two new alternate holes are worth persuing. Leanne from the city thought they looked good and wanted us to put pins in and play from temporary tee pads for a while as a trial period. During this time the club can decide on what we like and what we want to change and meanwhle the city will see if they recieve any complaints from park users (i.e. parents at the playground calling because of loud cursing from the 2nd alternate tee pad). *NO YELLING CURSE WORDS at the park! Especially club members* Lets help ourselves out The pins are going to be located for utilities on Thursday and then we will have the "go ahead" to put sleeves in. Proposed pin locations are spray painted in white (currently under snow) I meet Leanne on Thursday and I will put up flags at there location. I would like to get these pins in at least for trial by Jan 5. for the winter warriors here at Edora Post any inputs a workday(s) will commence when the weather breaks. Doug

I met with the City today. The pin placements for the alternate holes have been located for utilities and all is clear. As soon as the snow is gone the city will be able to locate for sprinklers and then we will be able to proceed. The city has offered to dig the holes and wanted to know if we wanted to use the old sleeves still in concrete or if we want to pour new sleeves. I told them we would probably want to pour new sleeves instead of trying to bury a sleeve with concrete on it already and have it be plumb. Anybody with keys should know that the city is adamantly against the far right position for hole 18. They have received complaints about discs flying over the memorial and over the sidewalk in order to get to this pin. Please move the basket out of this location and do not return it here except for maybe tournament settings of a day or two. The city is also interested in a design of temporary tee signs for the alternate holes and a new course map. Anyone with info on an existing course map please let me know. We will have to address the changes to the park to the public at the bulletin board with maybe a box of course maps along with a large one that will replace the one that is there now. We also discussed the new sidewalk project that will run along the street starting at Spring Creek trail near 14's tee pad running next to the road up to hole 16's deep pin placements. We are going to have to move 13's tee pad to the right and away from the street a bit and we talked about moving 14's tee pad up and to the right near the green box in order to preserve a long placement for 13's pin. We will probably lose 16's deepest pins but new ones can be added that will not be that much shorter. For the last 3 weekends we have been meeting after leagues on these issues and have come up with what we have, if you have any input or questions come to Sunday leagues and we can meet afterward or give me a call. Doug 232-4245 I'll keep all y'all posted I may miss Leagues this Sunday 12/10, I have finals next week but I am planning on a lot of progress over my Christmas break 12/16-1/16 peace out

I'll get 18 moved tomorrow. We need to take 11's basket and put in 16's spot, due to the basket there(16) is missing a bolt and could be easily stolen. If I pull 16, where do I put it, with the parks and rec.(Sean)? Does the city do all repairs to baskets? If so, I'll track someone down and show them what needs to be fixed. Let me know what's up.

how much more are we gonna get kicked around by parks and rec? that position for hole 18 is not dangerous and posses no problems. the more we mess with parks the more problems we encounter how much more colbeled can the course get? how is a par 4 going to attract new players and ladies to the game? lets keep stirring the pot and see what else comes out of it!

I went to move 18 and didn't consider ice in the sleeves. We'll have to move them later, hopefully they'll thaw today and Dan B. will move it.

r8r8hr A collaboration with the parks dep. is necessary. Putting our heads in the sand and hoping that nobody addresses issues is poor diplomacy. Hole 18's right pin location warrants drives flying into a blind location that is presumably occupied by casual park users (the memorial and sidewalk) and that is dangerous. Now if everyone just threw up to the tree line and played a short up shot to the pin that would more safe but that is not the case. I think drawing more women and kids to the sport should definately be a major priority to the club. I would not agree that a par 4 hole is going to deter women or kids as long as they have a fairway that challenges them to execute specific shots. It would be an interesting study to see if women and kids enjoy playing holes #1 long, #6, #10, #13 long etc. I would presume variety in course design is desirable. To cater to those that do not prefer longer holes we could certainly persue a short tee pad to accomadate these feelings. I would say that most of the time all of the long holes will not be in the long positions at the same time unless it is a tournament setting or something similar. The course can and probably will get much more cobelled. The long term plan for Edora park is for the park to become a sanctuary of sorts for wildlife and the parks dept is taking baby steps to remove any disc golf hole that is near Spring Creek. This is a LONG term plan and who knows when any more changes are going to take place but that is the direction the parks department is angleing. The city and parks dept. are empathetic to the disc golf course being squeezed and the dwindling caliber of the disc golf park but the city is responsible to the majority of its citizens and giving them what they want. I feel like this is a situation to be very active and voice our opinions through petitions or other means. The club meeting with the park in my eyes is not "stirring the pot" but rather becoming informed and working with them for the best solution for everyone.
