I sent the first edition to KC to play around with Doug, didn't get it. I must've given you the wrong email or something. Check your email, I sent you something from the correct address.

B - A couple people voiced their curiosity for results on the MileHigh forum... not sure which thread it was on, but I'm pretty sure it was different from the thread about our monthlies... It was the most active thread after the tourney though, Pat and I both posted thank-yous to the Denver people on it... doesn't matter though... get the results up you slacker! (just kidding)

I see you discussing getting a cheap laptop to assist in tournaments and tags etc. I have an HP nx9010 laptop that I am not using anymore. The system is a P4, 512MC RAM, 40GB HDD and DVD Rom that I am willing to donate to the club.

That would be amazing, Todd. Thank you for the generous offer!
Does it have an operating system installed already? How about Microsoft Excel or a similar spreadsheet program? These are things we can always purchase/install, but would be nice to have.
On another note, we are not officially certified as a non-profit, so your donation would not be tax deductable. Just wanted to let you know.
Thanks again!

Yes....the laptop has Win XP SP2 and Office with Excel, Word, Power Point etc. It is a nice system but I have other computers and another laptop that I use so it has been collecting dust.

I will update the laptop with the latest hotfixes from Micorsoft etc just to ensure it is up to date.

I have finished updating the Laptop with the latest hotfixes etc. from Microsoft. The only thing I would recommend for the club is to purchase a copy of Norton or Mcafee Antivirus if this is going to be connected to the Internet. Who would be the best person to get the laptop too?

Todd,
You'll probably want to get that to either Brandon Elder (monthlies TD), his email is brandon@nocodiscgolf.com, or possibly Doug Allen (pm DGA here on the boards) since he's working on creating the spreadsheet program for the tags, leagues and tournaments.
On my computer I have been using a free antivirus program called Avast that I've had no problems whatsoever with. I complement that with Spybot S&D and things work pretty well. If you think that Norton or Mcaffee is safer, it's a small expense to avoid future problems for the club. Is Windows firewall good enough, or do we need something better?
Once again, thanks so much Todd. This will save many headaches for those running and assisting with events, as well as those participating in them. You ROCK!!!

Thank you for the information. I will get in touch with Doug or Brandon.
Avast works OK but many of my buddies have abandoned it because it seems to slow down the system over time. It would be a free method to have AV protection, but later there might be some issues.
The windows Firewall works very well and should not be an issue. Other then the AV and the firewall (already installed) the system would need to have periodic Windows updates. I have it setup to automatically download the updates but it would need to be connected to the Internet at times in order to down load them.
Hopefully this makes future events much faster when posted results and figuring out the bones etc.

Any CSU student gets screamin' deals on software at The Software Cellar on campus. New Windows operating system or Office packages are super cheap. They also tend to give antivirus software away, as it benefits them in the long run. Check it out!
