Hey all,
Just wanted to let everyone know we've got our first monthly of the season coming up on January 6th! It's called the "Cabin Fever Killer", and it should be a blast! Brandon is working on putting together the schedule for the rest of the season, and the details should be out soon.
Mark those calendars and dust off those discs!

The calendar dates are finished, I'll email it out to the board members so you can post it KC. Still need a little help coming up with some names for some of the events, so that they sound more catchy than 'monthly', so if anybody out there has ideas, I'm all ears.

One down, eleven to go! Thanks to all who braved the terribly cold, miserably cloudy... just kidding... pretty warm, mostly sunny, fun day at Edora yesterday! The Cabin Fever Killer went off without any big problems (other than those experienced by our devoted TD Brandon ). We had 26 people show up, and surprisingly, more than half came in from out of town! A big thanks goes out to all of you who traveled from far away to make the event so successful. Working with the Wright Life and a group of kids from Fossil Ridge High School, we incorporated a fundraising effort for the Make-a-Wish Foundation into the tourney. Even though we weren't able to roll out all of our grand ideas for the fundraiser, thanks to the large turnout, we ended up raising $400 for the cause! Many generous players brought discs to donate for fundraising, including a handful of cool plastic from Peg and Sue, two crystal buzzes from Longs Peak DG Club, and a first run TeeRex from Pat Lien which were used for a CTP fundraiser and Am payouts after the rounds. And, of course... Nice job "Captain Pat T" on another Open victory! Could it be karma for his generosity? Hmmm... Link to the: 2008 NCDGC Monthlies Calendar

Congrats to Trick Lien! Patty has got a promising season ahead of him this year! What can I say, I taught him everything he knows! You're making me proud kid! Although I'm sure you realize that you have to put an asterisk next to all these wins you keep getting when I'm not there. Yeah Patty!

Any word on the monthly points system, and how they are going to work?

I'll leave the details to Brandon to explain, but in a nutshell, the people you beat in your division for the day each earn you a point. Points won't carry over if you start in, say, intermediate then move to advanced. There will be some finer details, like top three get extra points, etc. which I'll leave to Brandon to elaborate on...
Some of this may have changed, but this is generally how it works.

point system is still being ironed out, at this point it looks like it will be 1 pt for each person you beat plus 1 pt just for finishing, i.e. last place gets 1 pt and it goes up from there, and then bonus pts for top 5 or so in each division, I was thinking maybe if 20 in your division, top 5 bonus, 30 top 6 bonus, 15, top 3 or 4 bonus, so maybe it works out to top quarter get bonus but well see how that looks when I plug it into the spreadsheet...coming soon. don't worry pat, you're probably leading no matter what

Thanks for your hard work, B. I know everyone is itching to know where they stand but its a long season and there's still lots of time to play catch up before Last Tags.
On the note of results, though, I just posted the Birdie Love results on the site under the Event Results section. This will help everyone know roughly how they're doing.

okay kiddies, the moment you've been waiting for, dundundun
I have worked out what I believe to be a fair and simple points system for the monthlies, here's the run down: you get a point for playing and finishing, plus 1 point for every player you finish ahead of, so if 20 are in a division, and you win, you get 20 points. as for bonus points, you get one point for finishing in the cash, plus one point for every player you beat in the cash, so in that same 20 person division, if 8 get paid, and you win, you get 8 bonus points, so for that event you would get 28 total points. an equation would look something like this: 1+(1*# of players you beat) + 1 +(1*# of players who cash below you) I think let me know opinions of this system, if you like, don't like, so on, so I can adjust if necessary before I finish the other events. I have updated the CFK results according to this system and will email it to KC so he can post it and you all can have a look and see what you think or you can email me and I can send you a copy of the spreadsheet if you want to see it sooner. Peace.
