well it seems the time has come for Edora to be changed once again. I am going to meet with Leanne tomorrow and will be at the club meeting to share the news. From talking with her on the phone a few things she mentioned. *we lose the two alternate holes *we lose hole 9 *hole 5 gets shortened (away from water) *we are in the process of getting 6,7, and 8 pins back in the ground (utilities locations etc.) *the city only wants two holes where 13-16 are now. *we get land to put about 6 holes over on the other side of the tracks I will find out more in my meeting tomorrow. The city just doesn't seem to understand that nobody uses that park more than disc golfers.

The tee pad for 14 needs to change. The spot to the right of the tree is bad. First it is in the shade for most of the day. Which my not be a problem for when league is played, late afternoon when it's dry. Most of the day it is wet and unplayable. There are lot of people playing that hole that are not league players. Thanks for the help.

Agreed.
I think it was just put down as a temporary placement for the time being, but has become semi-permanent due to the passage of time. Nothing over there is even close to getting cement yet, so we still have plenty of time to change things.
My real issue with that placement is when the basket is in the left-most position. It makes lefty's and righty sidearms throw straight toward thirteens basket and 15's tee. We need to force the leftys to anhyzer up that same fairway on the right, or make it more difficult for them to get through the trees toward 13 and 15. Maybe we can try a different placement for the tee for awhile.

I don't know why we don't just use the SIDEWALK. I'm starting to sound like a broken record because I seem to mention it everytime I walk to that hole. It's as close as we can get to the old tee pad position AND it will save the grass AND be safer. The sidewalk traffic is not that heavy. How many courses have you played where they utilize the sidewalks as tee-pads? I've played a bunch. Badlands, Widefield, and Pueblo come to mind. Just paint a line (or move the flags on each side of the walk) at the apex of that curve that swings around the tree, and PRESTO!...a new tee pad! It suits all pin positions and is surely the quickest, best fix.

I absolutely agree with Johnson. The tee should be placed on the sidewalk... putting it roughly a little bit ahead of the old concrete pad. That saves the grass and solves the problem. You can't hit somebody on the sidewalk if you are throwing off the sidewalk. We should really do the same thing for hole 13 as well. - Evan

If you use the street for 13's tee pad, you really create a much more challenging hole. It makes you actually try to hit the gap between the pines and also makes the hole play longer than it really is (because of the gap). Because the other pin placements are so close to the sidewalk, I'm guessing that those won't see regular rotation unless in a tournament or just for league nights. If we play from the sidewalk, the grass between the street and sidewalk will quickly wear down to a mud hole, unless everyone can throw from a tee pad (sidewalk) that is only three feet long. Once again, the traffic is not that heavy on the street/sidewalk and it will change that hole from a gimme birdie, to a solid bird.

I think for leagues or our events we should tee from the concrete or asphalt but as far as a permanent tee-pad, the sidewalk or road tees would be frowned upon by the city. That is only my guess because it encourages interference with other park users or path users. Even if it is that one time out of 100 that the tee pad is being used. All it takes is one complaint or one complainer that is persistant. (Ex: the memorial) I think right now it is a time of transition and that everyone should realize that in 6 months things could be very different as far as tee-pads/hole designs/courses go... discussion is good and things are changing. Lets make the best of the funky transition state that things are in and hopefully there will good news to come soon.

Yet another tree has fallen at Edora. The gangly pine on #5/#9 has been removed - makes the low hyzer line on #9 much easier. It also doesn't guard the right position for #5 anymore.
