Have we decided on a set-up for the final tag match? Will we just play the course regular or do it like the team match? I would love to see some sick safaris!! I like the idea of a final 9 of huge safari holes. Should we get some folks together to figure this out or do we just want to wing it? It really doesn't matter to me.

I agree. Something like the team play set-up is what I was thinking. If anyone has some specific ideas about some holes, then I would greatly appreciate it if they post them here. I will have a set-up figured out before the day of the match. 'Winging it' is probably not the best idea.

I think playing a round of 18 holes first, eating lunch, then huge safari 11 would be perfect. Here's my vote... How about: First Round1. one long 2. two right 3. three on the hill (trees) 4. four long 5. five by the bridge 6. six to a temp set near corner of railroad fence and bike trail (doug's idea) 7. alternate tee (maybe where 8's short basket was) over bridge to seven across river 8. nine to hill spot 9. ten to eleven short 10. twelve long across street (This spot was fixed, right?) 11. thirteen long 12. extra 13. extra 14. fourteen center (short) 15. fifteen to short spot under tree (short left) 16. sixteen middle 17. seventeen short left 18. eighteen to far right (corner) LUNCH Safari:S1. one long S2. two to practice S3. three to nine on hill S4. six to 7 across river S5. nine to ten short S6. twelve to thirteen (yay! a par 5!) S7. long extra (teepad near 14 to corner by school) S8. mando dog-leg hole to fifteen's basket S9. sixteen to twelve's basket (twelve long across street, that is) S10. eighteen's tee to three on hill (trees) S11. four to "eighteen far right (corner)" This should keep us away from the icy river for most of the time, and seems like it would give lefty's and righty's a pretty level playing field, with lots of birdies the first round for both. A setup like this would spread some overall scores for sure, which I think would be important for the last tag match. We don't want too many ties. Naturally, with a Safari setup (and a bunch of people playing it), we'll have some cross over of holes, but I think they'll be fun. What do y'all think? ::Thread drift alert:: I was thinking of ways to entice some of the low tags that are out of town into coming up for this. I decided that, in addition to a sick safari course, the old standby (cash money) might just do the trick. What if we had two divisions, with Am being free and Pro being, say... 5 bucks. At the end tags would be distributed to best overall score (without regard to division). Divisions would only count towards payout with all pro cash going to the best Pro score. Five bucks isn't too bad to throw down for a chance at #1, and if even ten people entered pro, the $50 payout might make it worth it for some out-of-towners to make the trip. Any pro level players that want to bag it in Am's would get a disc or something, but no chance at the CASH! We could payout top 60% of Am's with whatever merch we still have from the year (we do still have some stuff, right?). Just ideas, any feedback?

Great ideas KC the only glitch that may happen is if it is fairly nice out other golfers may be an issue with the safari set up. playing 3 to 9 brings the horeshoe pits into play which probably won't be a problem being the middle of december 18 to 3 brings the skate park more into play as well and they were out there shoveling today. all in all, I like your set up alot we probably just need to round up scorecards and am prizes and put the word out to all of those low bag tag baggers

For the Skatepark (18 to 3) I had thought about mentioning a Mando to the right of one of those trees by number 12's teebox, but I didn't want to piss off the lefty's who love their skatepark route Maybe it would be a good idea, though, to avoid confrontation and possible injury. I agree that 3-9 is in conflict with the horseshoe pits, but you are right, I doubt anyone will be out there this time of year. And for the other golfers conflict. Yes, I think no matter what kind of Safari setup we do, we will be in constant contact with other players. We will probably just have to announce at the beginning of the Safari round to "be respectful, and YEILD to the players playing the course correctly" Hate to put a sour taste for club members in the mouth of the general public. Maybe a sign at hole one saying we are having a "Safari Finale" to the season and to watch out for us would be good. Could make for good outreach as well, if we put some contact info, website etc on it. Any input on the Pro payout concept? Good or not good? Just curious If you all think it might help

I don't think that 12 long has been fixed, if so, I never heard about it. I like the set up for sure, I think all should be good on 3-9. I say we see what type of day it is before we go calling mandos, ie 18-3(you're killing my line).Maybe we could have those of us who throw that line, throw last and have a spotter? Although a mando there would make that hole pretty tough, I say majority wins on that decision. I would be willing to put in a 5 spot, I ain't ashamed to take all ya'lls money(Yeah Right)!!

I will donate $5 to try and draw some low tags Doug, don't be so modest... and you're not allowed to use the word "donate" anymore! I say we see what type of day it is before we go calling mandos, ie 18-3(you're killing my line). LOL. What did I tell ya? I knew that Mando would'nt be liked by the leftys/sidearms. If the skatepark is busy, though, we should probably still do it. So... Dave and Brian, you guys out there? Just wondering what you guys are thinking about the setup. I'm willing to print up some scorecards if needed (once we know what setup we are using). KC

I do like the set-up ideas that you have come up with KC. While we will have to be cautious of other players and, of course, the skate park, this is not our biggest obstacle. There is just no way we have time to play all these long holes. We scheduled play to start at 11am. That means we have about 5 1/2 hours total to play. Both of these rounds will take much longer than you may think. And lunch will take some time even if the pizza is coordinated well. My other concern is for the women and juniors. These holes are very challenging to any caliber player. The 1st thing I would suggest is that we cut the safari a little: maybe take out hole 1 and 2. We've all played those holes before. We'll still be cutting it very close. Any other suggestions/opinions?

I agree that taking out 1 and 2 long would save us lots of time. Another option to save time: we could play 6 and seven the first round, but skip crossing the street the second round. That would be a total of three long holes taken out, and would probably save us 30 or more minutes, especially because 1 and 2 cross, so that slows things down.
I think if we get started at 11:00 and don't dilly-dally, we should be OK.
Do we, or can we, have the details finalized for this soon so that we can post on the Mile High and BADCO sites? Might need at least a week if we are trying to get some of those tags back here.

What's wrong with the post that we put up on our site? It contains all the important details. We can add "cash for pros, prizes for ams", but the where and whens are included. While we may still be discussing pin placements, those details need not be posted. I no longer have the file from that post. Do you, KC? Also Bryan and I decided that we will just use club money to pay for a pizza lunch. That's the kinda stuff that club money is for, right?

Agreed. The site does have all the relevant info, I just wasn't sure if we really wanted to do some sort of cash payout for pro's, or if we had enough stuff to offer Am prizes. That's my only question, is there going to be an entry fee, or is it just a casual tag match, with no $ required. On a side note, I think the club members will be very happy with a free lunch! Good idea KC

To encourage the largest amount of people to play, there will definitely be some prizes for ams. As far as the pros, we could make it an optional pay-in of $5. If you pay in, then you are playing for the tags and for the cash. If you don't pay in, then you are playing for the tag only. How does that sound? Many people take the tags so seriously that I would like to keep it a light-hearted, casual, fun club experience.

Also, does anybody know the status of the pins? How many are frozen in place; how many do we have the option of moving? And is 12 across the street usable or not?

Dan, Lorri and I tried to move 18's pin on Sunday. We were able to get the basket out but all of the other sleeves were full of ice. I am going to bring my little propane torch and thaw one of the sleeves for 18. Which location do you want for 18's pin? Depending on how it goes, I may be able to thaw others I believe 12's pin across the street is a wee bit bent. The basket leans a little bit. I am ok with it, I miss playing to it over there.
