For those who don't know the Northern Colorado Disc Golf Club gained in my opinion one of our most valuable members this year when Rich K signed up. He lives in Cheyenne and has had great luck in getting Cheyenne P and R to put in new courses. Now he has set his eyes on Ft.Collins and has set up an incredible Power point presentation to give to the powers that be in the government and park departments an idea of the power of disc golf and how it can change lives as well as be a great sport for all ages. He, thus far, has given a presentation to Ft Collins p & r and as of this Monday gave one to Larimer County parks advisory boards. This is the first and best step forward we have made in a long time. We haven't got anyone to say "we are ready to put one in today", but I believe we are in the minds of the powers that be, and that this is in their best interest to put one in soon somewhere. We are interested in giving this presentation to anyone who can help us get a course in the Northern Colorado area. (We are the Northern Colorado Disc Golf Club not the Ft.Collins G C) So we are looking into Loveland, Windsor and Wellington as well. If your out and see Rich give him a big high five! In other news, the officer's are calling for a meeting soon and we want to discuss new tags, a re-working of Sunday Leagues, and elections should be on the agenda. Keep your eyes on this site for more info. I think Dave will send out an e-mail so if you haven't given KC your email address you should. The best way to contact me is bryan@nocodiscgolf.com and not by replying to this thread. I would like to keep this one positive as I have seen some threads degrade lately and don't believe its appropriate to go into the negative.

For a brief moment a few weeks ago, there was talk about finding potential new areas and setting up temporary courses. This way we could demonstrate a concrete usability while throwing in some new spots to boot. Is there still any interest in this out there? I even think a few guys with a bunch of little red flags could make an afternoon of it. The one setback I see right now is that there's a lot of potential for 9-hole courses and I get the feeling that a lot of people are only motivated by epic 18-holers. Go out to Boltz any day and see, people just want another place to throw. My schedule and availability doesn't always work with anyone else's, but I'm stoked to do whatever I can to build more courses in the area. WAY more interested than in competition. -Michael

By the way, a buddy of mine from up north works for the state has gotten to play the courses in Cheyenne and Laramie. He reports that they're definitely worth while. Definitely not very far from FTC. Do local disc golfers like going up there? All I ever hear about is Redfeather.

Michael, That could definitely be a good time, as I love to throw shots at new routes. I like to go to City Park sometimes for practice and pick fun shots around trees and up/down hills. I think that right now, we are limited on our options of what is available to us. The city is beginning to fill, and unfortunately it appears that disc golf is not high on their priority list currently. This is something we are trying to change, and seem to be making progress on. We are working on possibilities within city limits as well as in surrounding areas, as Bryan mentioned. Keep the ideas for areas that may work coming. You could be right in that the city might be more open to a new, mini 9 holer near a neighborhood that doesn't have one already. Personally, I think this is just as big of a project as getting an 18 hole course in the ground, and will draw/hold less players once complete. However, this possibility has not and will not be ruled out, so don't worry. We are approaching the county with some ideas we've come up with for options that could work for a new course/s. Rich suggested I start a thread under the Club Leadership topic for updates on what the leadership is working on, so keep an eye out for that. Soon, we hope to have something concrete in the works, so stay tuned. And to try to bring this post somewhere near TR (thread relevant -copyright KC ) I will agree that Rich is *the man*, and we are blessed to have his assistance right now!
