I was wondering if people think it would be worthwhile to use club money and replace a few bent poles and/or sleeves. I think baskets at holes #2 and #12 are tweaked and the baskets lean no matter the position. I think it would nice to have chains hanging so the ring at the bottom isn't touching the pole.
As a general rule, if we know of a leaning basket we should pull the basket out of the sleeve and eye the pole to see if it is dead straight, if not straight then replace the pole, if it is straight then we should "ear-mark" that sleeve as being crooked and we should either try and straighten the sleeve with ponys and a breakin' bar or repour that position. any thoughts?

Hey, I'll look at those pins tonight, but I've never noticed them being that bad. If they are just leaning a little bit, then I don't think it's worth worrying about. At least not worth using club money. If the city would pay for it then of course they should be fixed.
What's the word on getting those tee pads for our two new holes over there? Is that going to happen soon? Also, if we get pads, then I assume we'll get tee signs at some point for those, and if we do, then what are we going to call them? Hole A and Hole B? It would be hard to renumber the whole course to make it all make sense...

For now, the idea is to move the teeboxes around a little bit, try some different options, and see what is going to make the best holes with the least playground involvement.
I have been calling them 13a and 13b for the time being, which should be good enough for awhile at least.
I know nothing about who's in charge of the FCHS course, but I'd like to see those baskets fixed before anything else (except 12 across the street). We really need people to start going out there to take some stress off Edora, and last time I was there, it was lookin pretty sad.

The tee pads will be poured at some point but we are at the stage of fine-tuning where exactly the pads should be. This depends on many considerations: club preference, safety of playground users, no complaints of swearing at the 2nd alternate tee pad etc., location of tee pad can't be in drip line of tree and any trees in the fairway that are getting badly abused should be addressed in tee pad location. Obviously these considerations have "feedback periods" or testing times to see how they work. We are going to get holes 6-8 back eventually but we are going to lose hole 11 permanently therefore we need to renumber the holes at least from hole 10 onward. It could be possible to number hole 12...11 number hole 13...12 and the two alternates could be 13A and 13B and then the course would be back on track with numbering.

I think that hole 12 long should be fixed as for 2 it is bent but is it that bad? I definitely like the idea of fixin up FCHS. That course has great potential for evening and weekends.

Doug,
We are limited in our allotted meeting time at Ft Fun, so it was decided the best thing is to keep some discussions going here on the forums till we really need to have a face to face meeting.

some people just need to become point people for these issues and then they can meet without disturbing the officership. as far as time for a meeting i can always be done at the course( a good way to show other players there IS a club here!! since we cant meet at a bar( yet ft fun serves beer) then we a limting what and where things can get accomplished. alot of people do not use this website and having discussions here limits whom we can attract to volunteer and support the club.

Do we have a contact from FCHS for that course? Shouldn't the school pay to fix their own course? If anyone knows who is in charge of the course there, then we could at least talk to him/her and go from there. If nobody knows who's in charge of it, I'd be willing to stop by the school and try to track somebody down. I forgot that course was even there! It's not too bad though, definitely a good alternative to some of the ridiculous crowds at Edora.

Hey I was just out at Edora and I noticed that the practice basket is messed up. It looks like the concrete base/sleeve is like loose. The whole thing is just kind of wobbling around like a bobble head... we should probably look into it. Too bad the other sleeve for the practice basket is also jacked up...

Sounds like a workday is in order. Ideas? Dates? I haven't done much repairs myself, maybe Bryan M would like to organize something? I'm definitely in on helping out.

Bryan was telling me tonight that the practice basket pole might not be the normal size/diameter as the rest of the pins... and so a new sleeve might be a somehwat more complicated proposition, since the normal sleeves won't fit it. We could just leave it in the sleeve it's in (the one that is loose in the ground) and just re-cement that one into a bigger cement hole. We definitely need to get on that though cause right now it's just sitting there daring somebody to steal it. I'm down to help out with any workday or course work whenever. - Evan

Hmm. I heard him mention it as well, but wasn't listening to closely. What we did temporarily (very temporarily) was move the practice basket to one's short position. This should please the rec players for a little while, and buy us some time to get the anchors fixed. We had no problem fitting the basket into the sleeve.
So yeah, I'm in whenever for setting a couple new anchors.
