Hey fellas, I just noticed int he Coloradan Classifieds that they put out a "Request for Bids" to do the road improvements and install the john out on this piece of property. We're talking world championship worthy land. My original post went "Hey guys I did a Phase I (site reconnaissance) assessment for Larimer County on a 640 acre piece of this property www.larimer.org/parks/openlands/os_red_mountain.htmAll I could think about the hole time is what an incredible disc course it would make. The usage plan also hasn't been drawn up by the county yet so the voices of the DG community still have a chance to be heard. It's only about a 20 minute drive north of town, completely desolate... the ranch that i surveyed had 1 building that was 30 years old and abandoned on it. That's it. One. I talked to the Larimer county land manager about what the usage was going to be and he discussed some random trails in 2009. There is SO MUCH LAND up there though! Mostly Pinyon/Juniper stands, but trees nonetheless. An amazing array of rock outcrops, varying terrain... Check it out on google earth... 40 57'07.89"N, 105 57'07.89"W The area I checked out is about a full window at 16,000 ft To get an idea of the amount of land Larimer county has been buying up in the area take it back to 30,000 ft I mean it... we're talking about an EPIC location for a potentially EPIC course..."

I checked it out on Google Earth. I didn't see many trees in the exact coordinates you gave, but in general it looks hilly and fun, and there appears to be some trees (maybe short ones, as you said) in surrounding areas. You should shoot an email to the club leadership and get a dialogue going. All email addresses are listed here. Thanks for keeping an eye out for possibilities! KC
