Hi all-
I am writing from Boyd Lake State Park. We are looking at putting in a Bill Wright designed 18 hole course at the Park, and I am looking for general words of local support for the project. For a state park, this is a large investment, and we just want to make sure that it would be something people in the area would want. We have tossed around the idea of trying to hold a small fundraiser. The course would be 18 holes, and would run between the swim beach (where we have a coffee shop and summer concert series) and the south natural area of the park. It would go past the campgrounds, and would mainly run along the shoreline of the lake. There would be a $7 day pass per vehicle, or a $60 annual pass per vehicle to play. Boyd Lake is located in Loveland, just a few miles south of Fort Collins. Any words of support/advice/ideas or encouragement would be great.
Thanks!

Wow, that is fantastic news. If Bill Wright is designing it, I'm sure it will be as good as it can be for the environment. The area definitely needs more courses, and to have one where one can swim and camp etc. sounds superb. You WILL get visitors, I'll be one of them. Good luck, and please, GO FOR IT!

Thank You for your consideration in a rapidly growing sport!! Bill Wright and help can make this a wonderful addition to activities in the Loveland area! It could be a large draw for tourists and tournament players alike! Look forward to visiting often! There is a large community available for fundraising activities!

That sounds great! The Northern Front Range area is badly in need of more 18-Hole disc golf courses. I was actually just thinking earlier today that Loveland is a town that really should have a nice course, but doesn't. I've even considered how great some places like Boyd Lake would be for potential new course sites! This is great to hear!
Bill Wright is definitely a great person to deal with in this regard. He has more experience and resources for this kind of project than anyone else in this area. I'm not familiar with the exact area where you guys would like to put the course, but my advice would be that the more trees and the more varied the terrain is the better. Especially, considering it will be pay-to-play. The more challenging and fun it is to play, the more people will come to play it. You can certainly trust Bill in this regard, course design and whatnot.
If you guys need any help or advice with design, installation, or any other aspect of this process, myself and the leadership of the Northern Colorado Disc Golf Club are more than willing to volunteer our time and consideration.
Thanks so much! I can't wait to support the Course and the Park!

This sounds pretty darn cool. Do you need people to write city council in Loveland? If so, give the word and I'm sure many of us, in this area, will be more than happy to send off emails. Good luck, and thanks!!

I live in the Boulder area, and would definately drive there for a pay-to-play course. I have to drive to play an 18 hole course anyways, so Boyd Lake would be pretty easy. Love to support this idea in any way I can.

I live in Denver and have been looking for a reason to buy a state pass (other than to take the dogs to Chatfield Resevior) and this would definately seal the deal. That's me personally.
Generally, I think there would be a great deal of support from the disc golf community along the front range. From playing fundraisers and tournaments, to volunteer physical labor.
And having a disc golf course is always something that adds a positive family experience to any state park or recreation area.
thank you for asking for the word of support, Mike Webster

I live in Loveland and would buy an annual pass. I could also volunteer my time to help put the course in. Or whatever it takes!
Look forward to hearing more. Sean Misener

I'm elated to hear of another nearby 18 hole course in the works! This part of Colorado is in dire need of more quality courses, so I think you're reasoning is right on.
Don't be afraid of the initial investment. I'm sure the additional revenue generated by day-passes and season-passes purchased by disc golfers will more than cover these costs in time. If you build it (a high quality disc golf course), they will come!
As someone mentioned above, this will make Boyd Lake stand out as the place to go for disc golfing families. If you can do all the regular campground activities, then add disc golf in as well, you've got a winner!
I live in Fort Collins and I will be one of your most frequent visitors.

This is a great idea for the area. If any fundraising is needed, we could do it through the monthly tournaments that we are running, and even run a fundraiser kick-off event if the course actually gets installed and raise money for the course installation through the event.

I would also buy an annual pass just to play the course. It would be the closest 18 hole course to my house, and very convenient. Great plan - I can't wait!

Great! This is fantastic news and quite ironic! I drove by the outskirts of Boyd Lake the other day and mentioned how nice a course would be around that area. I also echo what everyone else is saying that I would be there often and would most definitely purchase a state park pass for my car if this were to go in.! I also agree with Evan that working with Bill on utilizing the surrounding areas topography and trees will bring in more interested players from all over the state!!
thanks again and let the club know if there is anything that we can do to help!

I live very close to Boyd Lake and would be very interested in having a course at Boyd or even in Loveland. I would purchase a parks pass for the opportunity for another 18 basket course.

This would be a great additional course for northern Colorado since some of the courses in this area get extremely over-crowded. I know that this course, if installed, would get played by tons of disc golfers from Denver CO to Cheyenne WY. This would be spectacular since Bill Wright has all the experience to put in an excellent course. Thank you so much for considering this new course which would be a great success. Good luck and keep up the good work!! -Lance
