www.larimer.org/parks/openlands/acquisitions.htmI was looking at some of these places and thought the Fossil Creek looked pretty interesting. There's a ton of land 800+acres, althought it seems to be pretty well planned for. Dave is this the type of land you were saying we should keep an eye out for, to show to County Parks and Open Space? I'm guessing it is . We would only need a sliver of this massive chunk. I suppose the question is would we be bothering wildlife and damaging native trees and shrubs? Maybe we could work a deal where we plant trees and shrubs to make up for the disturbance? A couple ideas to chew on for now.

I checked out the Fossil Ridge area on google earth. It looks semi-flat, and basically no trees in sight. Bummer! I wonder where we need to look to find detailed information about land the county owns. I have been trying for a while, and haven't been very successful. I found a couple lists, but they don't give much. If anyone else is looking online for this stuff, here is the pages I have found so far: www.co.larimer.co.us/parks/ParkAreas.htmwww.co.larimer.co.us/parks/parks_map.htmMaybe that will spark something for you...

I just saw on the cover of todays newspaper that there was a land trade between CSU and Larimer county at the Reservoir Ridge area. Didn't actually have time to read the whole article. Anyone know more about this piece of land?

Hey guys I did a Phase I (site reconnaissance) assessment for Larimer County on a 640 acre piece of this property www.larimer.org/parks/openlands/os_red_mountain.htmAll I could think about the hole time is what an incredible disc course it would make. The usage plan also hasn't been drawn up by the county yet so the voices of the DG community still have a chance to be heard. It's only about a 20 minute drive north of town, completely desolate... the ranch that i surveyed had 1 building that was 30 years old and abandoned on it. That's it. One. I talked to the Larimer county land manager about what the usage was going to be and he discussed some random trails in 2009. There is SO MUCH LAND up there though! Mostly Pinyon/Juniper stands, but trees nonetheless. An amazing array of rock outcrops, varying terrain... Check it out on google earth... 40 57'07.89"N, 105 57'07.89"W The area I checked out is about a full window at 16,000 ft To get an idea of the amount of land Larimer county has been buying up in the area take it back to 30,000 ft I mean it... we're talking about an EPIC location for a potentially EPIC course...

There's a solution. Add it to the arsenal. Get it in the city think tank.

"Get it in the city think tank."
So how do I go about doing that? And is there much communication between Larimer county land managers and city managers?

send a PM to KC Terry (storm_king) and/or Rich K (reknw). They're the ones on the front line communications with govt folks. They keep us all together in our efforts, and can let you know the most productive way to approach officials.
