After a round at FCHS today, we got to talking, and thought since it's never packed (and with sidewalks played ob can be pretty challenging), it might be good to move either Sunday or Tuesday leagues there.
Edora is so busy, rounds take forever there these days. I'd be up for playing some new and different holes, too. I feel like I know Edora like the back of my hand.
On the downside, we do get casuals learning about the club, and getting in on league just because we're there.
Thoughts?

I'm all for it Thinking about, if we were out at Edora playing a casual round and say some hockey teams all decided to swarm the course and they just went to a hole and jumped on the course slowing play down by at least an hour if not more I would be kinda bummed in them just taking over the course instead of them starting at hole #1 just like everyone else should unless there is an obviously vacant hole to start on to not affect the speed of play. Today we finished leagues by 1-1:30 and it wasn't too bad except asking players to stop putting on the practice basket so these guys (us)can play a hole that they made up from 2 to the practice basket. I'm all for playing safari holes and crazy layouts but the etiquette of pulling this kind of thing when the course is full or busy starts to become very questionable. I could see how this sort of behavior or activity could and probably does turn off alot of avid disc golfers. My vote is to rotate leagues and when we get to courses like Boltz that has Nobody on it, then we can make crazy safari holes/layouts and have shotgun starts. I still love playing Edora but in my opinion, we should never hold leagues at Edora unless the weather is nasty-ish,cold, rainy or blowing and therefore the course will be very slow. Edora is only going to get busier as summer is comin' on. sorry so wordy

Yeah, I agree. I think if we have other options than Edora (when it's packed) then we should use them. Edora was jammed this Sunday, but when a couple of us went over to FCHS there was nobody there. There is some potential for some pretty cool safari holes there for a back nine too. I like the idea of moving league around to various courses from week to week; the only problem is coordinating it so everyone knows where we are on a given day. We almost have to meet up at Edora regardless and then carpool over to another course after everyone shows up. That's pretty easy to do, it just adds a little confusion. I'll bring it up Tuesday and see what people think...

The Mile High Club has a set schedule of tag play/doubles (Im not sure about "leagues"), and each course has it's own day. Maybe we should try a set up like that. That would help alleviate confusion over where people will be on a given day.
I think we could get really creative with some of the landscape at FCHS, maybe with some extra holes near the lake in those trees. Because of these possibilities, I'd recommend we do Sunday's there instead of Tuesdays, so we have more set up time.
Playing some club activities there will teach more locals how to get around the course, and hopefully, they will take their friends out there sometimes. We might just get that course into the rotation this way.

I agree with Storm King on this one!! I think it's a great idea to schedule for different courses. There's a whole lot we could also do @clp.

Absolutely agree with Storm. Busy Edora=rough on everyone. One idea for FCHS, in the past some friends and I have actually been pretty successful just playing the course backward to add a back 9. Fairly easy to do. And I also agree that Sunday would be the day to do it since it will take some planning. As for Evan's concern about word getting out as to where the league play will be held, I think this forum could prove to be a useful resource in that regard if word got out that this is where the info would be posted. Anyhow, just my pitiful 2 cents.

I really like the idea of using different courses for leaugues. We can still post flyers at edora without being there. I think that casual players might be willing to go to other courses to try league play if they knew other people were there. We are not the only ones who think that over crowding sucks. I would like to see tuesday nights at fchs with safari holes as a back nine, and sundays at laporte. we could play three or four rounds in a few hours. We need to contact evan for tuesdays, and whoever runs sundays. we should try fchs tomorow and see how it goes

Some of us had thought that Sunday would be the better day for moving over to FCHS, because it's usually even more crowded at Edora on Sunday afternoon than Tuesday Night. If we are thinking about moving both days away from Edora, then it doesn't matter much. Actually, FCHS would be better than Laporte for Tuesday nights, since some people are coming from work and it's probably quicker and more convenient to go to FCHS on a weeknight. I like playing at Laporte too, and there is actually good safari potential for a back-9 there as well... is there much traffic on that course on the weekend??? I don't think that this message board is sufficient, in of itself, to get the word out on this, because not enough people are on here regularly... personally I think it is too complicated to be moving a given weekly league around to different courses from week to week, but if we decide that Tuesdays are always at FCHS, or something like that... that's cool. So far, Tuesday nights have pretty much been run by committee... Erick has been doing it alot, and Dan was doing it tonight (though he didn't seem very happy about it), while I'm the one holding the acepool and gift certificate prizes... it seems a little chaotic this way (at least tonight it was). I think we should really designate one person to run it, especially if we move it to FCHS. That would probably make things run a little smoother and help us tee off on time more often. I'm happy to take that responsibility, unless somebody else just really wants it. Next Tuesday lets plan on meeting at Edora like normal, but then transferring over to FRCC once everyone shows up and knows what's going on.... I can probably make a flyer to put up at Edora too... Does this sound good??? If anyone wants to go out with me and figure out a backnine layout at FRCC, or offer any suggestions for one, let me know - Evan (970)980-1148

To alleviate any confusion, its FCHS (Fort Collins High School), not FRCC (Front Range Community College)
Evan, check with Erick D about Tuesdays. I think he'll help, but I don't think he's got his heart set on being the main guy. Either one of you'd be perfect, so you guys work it out. I agree that we need a designated person, though.
Evan, I'd love to scope extra holes/back nine with ya. Give a call or post a reply with times that work for you.

What? Front Range doesn't have a course too? (just kidding, my bad) Yeah I'm available until like 4:30 on Saturday and Sunday, and then after like 2 on Monday. I don't think I have your number, KC, but you should let me know... same goes for anyone who wants to golf or scope out a potential layout for that back nine. We could maybe just go over there after League on Sunday too. Also, It would be helpful if somebody could bring a basket for Tuesday Night, since hole 5's basket is missing at FCHS. - Evan 980-1148

Ill be hangin out with my folks on Sunday, but might be able to get over there for a minute. I'll give you a call today sometime.
I agree that Sundays would be a much better league day to have over there at FCHS. Maybe we can just pack up league this Sunday and head over there? I will bring my basket (if I can even get away for leagues). Then we'll have a few people there already to walk the course and look at some safari holes for the next week.
I'd say keep Tuesday's at Edora for consistency, then we'll already be on track when summer league starts up. Also, I'm wondering if, by the time everyone's there on tuesday (5:40ish) and we discuss going to FCHS (6:00) and we all arrive at FCHS (6:15) and hit the course will we really be able to finish before dark?
If we do decide to go with FCHS tuesdays, I can always bring a basket out.

Where did ya all end up at? pretty windy out there. I had something come up so couldn't show FCHS sounds like good trainin ground to me, can we set a date when we are going to start leagues there. Sunday or Tuesday? I like the idea of making a calender of where and when like MHDGC does for tags

We just played Edora since the wind was raging and nobody was there. It was pretty crazy!
So I am going to start running Thursday Night Doubles... 5:30pm at Fort Collins High. Starting tomorrow (weather permitting).
I figure doubles could be cool out there since we can set up some good Safari holes for the back nine. We can change it up from week to week and try some fun layouts. That's what we used to do back in the day when we had Thursday Dubs at CSU. I have course maps and flags for alternate tees and stuff... so I'm geared up to run something over there... and since we're keeping Tuesdays at Edora... and I'm not going to be around much for Sundays since I'm gonna be gone playing alot of other tournaments on the weekends, I figure Doubles would be good at FCHS. Erick seems like he's got Tuesdays under control... so I'll just do doubles. I'm gonna try to get a flyer up at Edora for all the weekly stuff a.s.a.p. Hope to see everyone out there Thursdays from here on out! If anyone can bring a basket out for Thursdays that would be great... until we solve the missing basket problem over there.
